HU^MANOS

Relaciones, sentimientos, sensaciones,…

HU(MANOS)

2003

The images that you have provided with "hand(s)" as the theme, reveal the full measure of expression as prescribed by the skillful navigation of the medium.  The mixing and juxtaposing of multiple ideas and visions are expressed in the mixed-media process in which digital technology is combined with traditional techniques.  Wonderful work.”

“Virginia Marin Magan's photographs possess an uncanny inner glow, with iridescent colors that lend a lustrous, unreal quality to the space surrounding the subjects of her images: the hands.  In her series of works entitled "HU[MANOS] (a combination of the Spanish words "humans" and "hands"), she uses imagery of hands to symbolize people and their sensations, situations, and sentiments.  Gripping a shimmering, polychrome fabric, pressing against pooling plastic or liquid, striking glass or intertwining fingers with another's, the hands in Marin's art grasp at the seeming indefiniteness of materiality, as well as the ambiguity of emotion.  Using straight photography with digitally manipulated color, Marin creates digital prints that explore concepts involving a duality of interpretation and harmony of forms. "I like to be provocative without losing vision of form and aesthetics," she says, "deforming reality, which is different for each individual." Born in Cadiz, Spain, Marin has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout Spain. She is a founding member of the artists' groups ZUR and Muralists Without Borders.”
